HOW TO FIND BOLT PATTERN
Use these helpful guides to determine what bolt pattern you need.
Use the diagram to identify the bolt pattern being measured. If measuring 4,6, or 8 lug bolt patterns, follow steps 1 and 2 of the directions below. If measuring a 4 lug bolt pattern, follow steps 3 and 4 of the directions below.
-
CHOOSE TWO LUG BOLTS DIRECTLY ACCROSS FROM EACH OTHER.
-
MEASURE FROM CENTER OF ONE LUG BOLT TO THE CENTER OF THE OTHER.
-
SELECT THE BOLTS TO MEASURE BY SELECTING TWO NON CONSECUTIVE BOLTS ON THE HUB.
-
MEASURE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF ONE BOLT TO THE CENTER OF THE OTHER.
HOW TO FIND HUB FACE AND SPRING CENTER DIMENSIONS ON AN AXLE.
Use these helpful guides to determine what the hub face and spring center is on an axle.
The hub face of an axle is the surface of the hub that the rim of the tire mounts to. The spring seat on an axle, is the welded bracket that locates the springs and provides a surface for mounting on the axle itself. Follow the steps below to measure your hub face and spring center properly.
Note: The hub face and the spring seat measurements are critical to the fit of an axle on a trailer measure carefully to ensure best fit.
Note: WTM Trailers is committed to helping all customers receive the best product needed for their project. However, any custom axles built to measurements provided by the customer may be required to be fixed, altered or replaced at the customers expense.
-
MEASURE THE HUB FACE BY MEASURING THE FROM THE HUB FACE ON ONE END OF THE AXLE TO THE HUB FACE ON THE OTHER END OF THE AXLE.
-
IF THE AXLE IS MISSING ONE HUB DUE TO DAMAGE, OR ONE HUB IS UNABLE TO BE MEASURED, MEASURE FROM THE HUB FACE TO THE CLOSEST SPRING SEAT, SHOWN AS MEASUREMENT A. ONCE YOU'VE MEASURED THE SPRING SEAT DIMENSIONS ( SHOWN IN STEP 3), DOUBLE MEASUREMENT A AND ADD THAT TO THE SPRING SEAT DIMENSION. (SPRING SEAT+A+A=HUB FACE)
-
FOR THE SPRING SEAT MEASUREMENT, MEASURE FROM THE CENTER OF ONE SPRING SEAT, OR SPRINGS, TO THE OTHER.
HOW TO IDENTIFY WHICH SPRING FITS YOUR AXLE.
Use these helpful guides to determine what spring to use on your axle.
The size spring used on your trailer is determined by the weight capacity of the trailer and/or the weight capacity of the trailer's axle(s). Follow the steps below to determine what springs are needed for your trailer.
-
TO ENSURE THE PROPER SPRING IS USED CONSULT YOUR TRAILER'S WEIGHT RATING AND/OR THE WEIGHT RATING OF THE AXLE(S) TO DETERMINE WHAT SPRINGS ARE BEST FOR YOUR TRAILER.
-
ONCE THE WEIGHT CAPACITY THE SPRINGS ARE NEEDED FOR IS DETERMINED, MEASURE THE SPRINGS AS SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM.
-
DOUBLE EYE SPRINGS ARE MEASURED FROM EYE TO EYE, AND SLIPPER SPRINGS ARE MEASURED FROM THE CENTER OF THE SLIPPER TO THE CENTER OF THE EYE.
HOW TO IDENTIFY WHICH SPRING FITS YOUR AXLE.
Use these helpful guides to determine the hub face and frame bracket dimensions on your torsion axle.
The hub face of a torsion axle is the surface of the hub that the rim of the tire mounts to. The frame brackets on an axle, are the welded brackets that mount the axle to the frame. Follow the steps below to measure your torsion axles for proper fit to your trailer.
Note: The hub face and frame bracket measurements are critical to the fit of the axle on a trailer. Measure carefully to ensure the best fit.
Note: WTM Trailers is committed to helping all customers receive the best product needed for their project. However, any custom axles built to measurements provided by the customer may be required to be fixed, altered or replaced at the customer's expense.
-
MEASURE THE HUB FACE BY MEASURING THE FROM THE HUB FACE ON ONE END OF THE AXLE TO THE HUB FACE ON THE OTHER END OF THE AXLE. (SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM AS MEASUREMENT B.)
-
IF THE AXLE IS MISSING ONE HUB DUE TO DAMAGE, OR ONE HUB IS UNABLE TO BE MEASURED, MEASURE FROM THE HUB FACE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CLOSEST FRAME BRACKET, SHOWN AS MEASUREMENT "". ONCE YOU'VE MEASURED THE FRAME BRACKET DIMENSIONS ( SHOWN IN STEP 3), DOUBLE MEASUREMENT "" AND ADD THAT TO THE SPRING SEAT DIMENSION. (FRAME BRACKET+""+""=HUB FACE)
-
FOR THE FRAME BRACKET MEASUREMENT, MEASURE FROM THE OUTSIDE (HUB FACE SIDE) OF ONE FRAME BRACKET TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE OTHER.
HOW TO MEASURE THE TRAILER ARM ANGLE.
Use these helpful guides to determine the trailing arm angle of your axle.
The angle of the trailing arm determines the height of the trailer and can affect the clearance required for tires on your axle. It is important to know what angle is needed for your trailer to ensure proper fit and operation. To determine the trailing arm angle, follow the steps below.
-
LEVEL THE TRAILER WITH THE SURFACE IT IS PARKED ON.
-
IF A PROTRACTOR IS AVAILABLE, ALIGN THE PROTRACTOR WITH THE TRAILER AND THE TRAILING ARM TO MEASURE THE ANGLE OF THE THE TRAILING ARM.
-
IF A PROTRACTOR IS UNAVAILABLE, REFERENCE THE DIAGRAM AND MATCH YOUR TRAILERS AXLE TO THE PICTURE THAT BEST FITS YOUR TRAILING ARM ANGLE.
